The Value of Design in Health: Professional Education Course
Lab Director Andrea Chegut joins accomplished colleagues from Harvard Medical School, the MIT Center for Real Estate, and MIT Professional Education in a collaborative effort to present a timely new virtual course: Developing Health-Centered Communities: The Next Revolution in Real Estate. In the session titled “The Value of Design for Health” she will discuss the evolution of healthy buildings – from standardization practices, products and technologies, to measuring productivity, design features and financial performance – with Lynne Katzmann of Juniper Communities and Juan Palacios of the MIT Sustainable Urbanization Lab.
In this course, participants will learn to:
- Identify opportunities for creating value through real estate focused on promoting health and wellness
- Examine how past health crises have shaped real estate and predict how COVID-19 and other health concerns are likely to impact future urban design and development
- Model the economics of healthy communities from value proposition to ROI over time
- Explore emerging digital health technologies designed to serve the wellness needs of diverse populations
