The Entrepreneurship Project @ MIT SA+P is a comprehensive survey of the companies initiated by members of the School of Architecture and Planning community. Recognizing that the impact of entrepreneurship is ever more significant as a driver of innovation for contemporary design and urban development, the REIL has made efforts to research, gather and catalogue numerous companies, startups and independent creators, and measure the school’s footprint over the built environment since its creation. The scope of the ventures in the collection is both diverse and unconventional, with solutions that range from design for the funeral industry, through autonomous home robot design, to global real estate development and investment firms. Connecting the dots through the companies’ shared characteristics and foundational drivers constructs an image of the collective entrepreneurial DNA of MIT’s School of Architecture and Planning.
